AI Agent (on-chain)
An autonomous on-chain entity driven by an LLM (or other model) — holds a wallet, executes transactions, and interacts with dApps without per-step human input.
An on-chain AI agent owns a wallet, signs transactions autonomously, and interacts with dApps based on prompts, market data, or on-chain events. The category spans memecoin-launching agents (truth_terminal, aixbt), autonomous traders, DAO operators, and content-generating bots that own their own income streams.
Agent-launching protocols like Virtuals (on Base) and ai16z's ElizaOS framework provide the tooling to create and deploy these agents. As of 2026 the category is highly experimental but captures significant investor and developer attention.
