Base
Coinbase's Ethereum Layer-2, built on the OP Stack and launched in August 2023 — one of the highest-throughput L2s by daily active users.
Base is an Ethereum Layer-2 operated by Coinbase. It launched in August 2023, built on the OP Stack as a member of the Optimism Superchain.
Base does not have its own token (a deliberate choice — Coinbase captures sequencer revenue directly). The chain became one of the highest-throughput L2s by daily active users, in large part because Coinbase's product surface (the app, the exchange) onboards users directly onto it.
