Blur
A pro-trader NFT marketplace and aggregator that used token incentives, zero royalties, and bid-pool mechanics to displace OpenSea in 2023.
Blur launched in late 2022 with two innovations: a pro-trader UX (sweep, bulk bids, real-time floor charts) and a token incentive program tied to listing and bidding activity. Combined with optional / zero royalties, Blur captured the bulk of NFT trading volume on Ethereum from OpenSea throughout 2023.
The protocol also pioneered NFT-collateralized lending (Blend), a peer-to-peer perpetual-loan design that brought meaningful credit to the NFT market.
