Brett (BRETT)
A Base-chain memecoin themed on the Matt Furie character — became the largest "Base ecosystem" memecoin in 2024 and a cultural anchor for the Base community.
Brett (BRETT) launched on Coinbase's Base L2 in early 2024, themed on a character from Matt Furie's "Boy's Club" comic (the same universe as Pepe). The token rapidly became the cultural anchor of Base's memecoin scene and one of the largest L2-native memecoins by market cap.
Brett's success cemented Base as a home for memecoin activity and attracted both retail and pro-trader interest to the L2. Subsequent Base memecoins (Toshi, Mochi, Higher) have launched in its wake, all benefiting from the trader base it brought to the chain.
