Celestia

A modular data-availability chain — it stores data and produces fraud-proven data-availability sampling, leaving execution and settlement to other layers.

Celestia, launched in 2023, is a blockchain that does only one job: publish data and prove that the data is actually available, via data-availability sampling and fraud proofs. It does not execute transactions itself.

The model is the canonical "modular" play: rollups and sovereign chains post their data to Celestia, use whatever L1 they want for settlement, and run their own execution. Celestia anchors the data-availability story in the Cosmos ecosystem the way EigenDA does in the Ethereum stack.
