Cope
Internet slang for self-soothing rationalization in the face of bad outcomes — used in crypto when traders or holders make excuses for losing positions or failed projects.
"Cope" is internet slang for rationalizing a bad outcome — making excuses, finding silver linings, denying the obvious. In crypto, it tags the behavior of holders making excuses for a falling token: "the team is still building", "it's just a healthy correction", "we're early".
The term is often used to call out hopium ("This pullback is just shaking out weak hands" — "cope"). It also gets used self- referentially in the early stages of admitting a bad position ("I know it's cope, but ...").
