ENS
Ethereum Name Service: a system of human-readable .eth names backed by smart contracts, with each name resolving to an address, contract, or content hash.
ENS turns 0xd8dA6BF26964aF9D7eEd9e03E53415D37aA96045 into
vitalik.eth. Each name is itself an NFT (ERC-721) whose owner
sets resolver records — primary Ethereum address, addresses on other
chains, content hashes, social profiles, and arbitrary text fields.
Wallets and dApps resolve names to addresses on the fly. Beyond sending, ENS names are increasingly used as a portable identity: profile pictures, reverse records, and integrations with on-chain social and gating systems.
