io.net
A DePIN marketplace aggregating GPU compute from individual operators and small clusters, packaged into "IO Clusters" for ML training and inference.
io.net launched in 2023 to aggregate spare GPU capacity from gamers, small studios, and crypto miners pivoting away from proof-of-work. The protocol packages individual nodes into "IO Clusters" with Ray-based orchestration, presenting them to ML workloads as a single distributed compute fabric.
IO token incentives bootstrap supply; ML teams pay (in IO or USDC) for use. The model competes with Akash and Render in the broader DePIN-GPU category that emerged alongside the 2023–2024 AI build-out.
