Magic
An embedded-wallet SDK that uses Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) to custody user keys via email-link auth — one of the original "wallet-as-a-service" providers.
Magic (formerly Fortmatic) was one of the first embedded-wallet products. Users sign in via an emailed magic link; the user's private key is generated and stored inside a hardware security module operated by Magic, accessible only via the user's authenticated session.
The model trades some self-custody (Magic operates the HSMs) for materially better onboarding UX. Magic has since added multi-chain support, social login providers, and Magic Connect (a multi-wallet connection layer). Many consumer dApps that don't require pure self-custody use Magic for the on-ramp.
