Memecoin
A token whose value is driven almost entirely by social attention, community, and humor rather than by any underlying utility or cash flow.
Memecoins — DOGE, SHIB, PEPE, WIF — trade on attention, not cash flows. Most are deployed in minutes as standard ERC-20s with no utility beyond being held and talked about.
Periods of high speculative interest pull large flows into them; most go to zero, but the survivors have at times posted larger returns than any "fundamental" project. Whether that is bullish or bearish for the asset class depends on whom you ask.
