MetaMask
The dominant Ethereum browser-extension and mobile wallet, originally a ConsenSys project — the default on-ramp for hundreds of millions of EVM users.
MetaMask launched in 2016 as a browser extension that injected a Web3 provider into the page, letting any site request signatures from the user's locally-stored keys. The model defined how EVM dApps and wallets interact and made MetaMask the default Ethereum interface for the better part of a decade.
It now ships as a browser extension, mobile app, and Snaps platform (extensions that add new chains, signing logic, or account types). MetaMask SDK, MetaMask Card, and the Linea L2 extend the brand into custody, payments, and L2 infrastructure.
