Pectra Upgrade
The May 2025 Ethereum upgrade combining Prague (execution) and Electra (consensus) — shipped EIP-7702 (native account abstraction) and EIP-7251 (validator MaxEB raise to 2048 ETH).
Pectra activated on Ethereum mainnet on May 7, 2025, combining the Prague execution-layer upgrade with the Electra consensus- layer upgrade. The two headline EIPs were EIP-7702 — letting EOAs temporarily delegate execution to a smart-contract implementation, unlocking native account abstraction without changing addresses — and EIP-7251, raising the maximum effective validator balance from 32 to 2048 ETH.
The fork also shipped EIP-2537 (BLS12-381 precompile), EIP-7691 (more blobs per block), and a number of smaller execution and consensus changes. Pectra was Ethereum's most ambitious post- Merge upgrade.
