Rug Pull
An exit scam where the team behind a token pulls liquidity, transfers the treasury, or otherwise abandons the project after collecting user funds.
A rug pull is the on-chain version of a vanishing act. Common shapes: deploy a token, attract liquidity, then pull all of the liquidity pool tokens at once; mint an unlimited new supply and sell into the bid; abscond with the treasury behind an upgradeable contract.
"Soft rugs" — the team just stops developing — happen even more often. The defenses are basic but rarely applied: read the contract, check who can mint or upgrade, look at the wallet distribution of the supply, and treat anonymous teams accordingly.
