Shiba Inu
An Ethereum ERC-20 memecoin launched in 2020 — built an ecosystem (ShibaSwap, Shibarium L2) around an originally pure-meme token.
Shiba Inu launched in August 2020 as an Ethereum memecoin positioning itself as the "Dogecoin Killer". After a 2021 speculative rally pushed it into the top-20 cryptocurrencies by market cap, the project began bolting on ecosystem products: ShibaSwap (DEX), BONE and LEASH (companion tokens), and Shibarium (an Ethereum L2).
The ecosystem build-out has been a recurring template in memecoin brands trying to extend beyond pure speculative status into a real product surface.
