Sony's Ethereum Layer-2 built on the OP Stack — focuses on entertainment IP, gaming, fan engagement, and creator monetization.
Soneium is an Ethereum L2 launched in 2024 by Sony Block Solutions Labs (a JV between Sony and Startale Labs). Built on the OP Stack, it joins the Optimism Superchain and inherits its cross-rollup interoperability.
Sony positions the chain around entertainment and IP use cases — music NFTs, fan tokens, gaming, creator royalties — leveraging Sony Pictures, Sony Music, and Sony Interactive Entertainment's content catalogs. The chain is one of the more prominent brand-driven L2 launches.
