Stellar
A payments-and-tokenization Layer-1 launched in 2014 from an XRP fork — uses the Stellar Consensus Protocol and supports issuance via "anchor" intermediaries.
Stellar forked from Ripple in 2014 and built its own Federated Byzantine Agreement variant — the Stellar Consensus Protocol (SCP). Native asset is XLM; consensus produces 3–5 second finality without proof-of-work or proof-of-stake economics.
The protocol's distinguishing feature is "anchors" — regulated fiat on-ramps that issue tokenized representations of currencies (USDC, EURT, regional currencies). Stellar is widely used for remittances and cross-border settlement in emerging markets, backed by the non-profit Stellar Development Foundation.
