SushiSwap
An early Uniswap v2 fork that pioneered the "vampire attack" against Uniswap in September 2020 — now a multi-chain DEX with a long, contentious governance history.
SushiSwap forked Uniswap v2 in August 2020 and launched with a liquidity-migration campaign that drained a substantial portion of Uniswap's TVL — the "vampire attack" that defined that era of DeFi. Sushi has since expanded across dozens of chains and added products like BentoBox (efficient yield platform), Kashi (isolated lending), and Trident (AMM framework).
Internal governance disputes and team turnover have churned the protocol repeatedly. As of 2026 Sushi remains relevant primarily as a multi-chain DEX and as a historical reference point for the fork-and-incentivize playbook.
