Symbiotic
A permissionless restaking framework — supports any ERC-20 as collateral, with custom slashing logic per network. A modular alternative to EigenLayer.
Symbiotic is a restaking protocol that takes a more modular, permissionless approach than EigenLayer. Any ERC-20 can be staked as collateral for any "Network" — bridge, oracle, sidechain, sequencer — with the slashing conditions and reward logic defined per network rather than at the protocol layer.
The model removes EigenLayer's curation of accepted collateral and service categories, leaving more decisions to the networks themselves. Symbiotic launched on Ethereum mainnet in 2024 with several large LST and LRT collateral options.
