Vanity Address
A blockchain address containing a chosen, human-readable pattern, found by brute-forcing keypairs until one hashes to an address matching the desired prefix or suffix.
A vanity address is a wallet address that contains a deliberately chosen, recognizable string — a name, a word, or repeated characters — instead of the random-looking output you normally receive. Because an address is derived by hashing a public key, there is no shortcut: generator software creates keypairs at random and checks each resulting address until one matches the requested pattern.
The longer the desired pattern, the exponentially more attempts it takes, so a long vanity can demand enormous compute (often GPU-based). Vanity addresses look friendly, but they carry real risks. Never use a keypair produced by a third-party or online service — whoever generated it may have kept the private key and can drain your funds. Attackers also craft look-alike vanities to make address-poisoning scams more convincing.
